Teens & Adults

High-intensity fitness and self-defense that applies in today's world.

Our teens and adults classes run one hour and follow the ATA Belt Promotion system. The emphasis is on high-intensity fitness and real self-defense that applies in today's world — while building physical discipline and mental resilience.

If you have tried running or a gym membership and stalled, this is a different proposition: technique to learn, a rank to earn, and a room of people expecting you on Tuesday.

What you'll learn

  • Practical self-defense

Technique for real situations, drilled under pressure rather than demonstrated once.

  • Full-body conditioning

Flexibility and strength worked in every plane — not just the forward-and-back of running.

  • Mental resilience

A structure that keeps asking for one more round, and a belt system that records that you gave it.

  • Cross-training

Complements other sports by developing the fitness areas most training programs skip.

  • Belt promotion

The ATA rank system gives adults the same clear progression children get.

  • Train with your kids

Many parents train alongside their children — the fastest way to make it stick for both of you.

Your first month

Nobody walks in knowing how to do this. Here is what the first four weeks actually look like, so you know what you are signing up for.

  1. Week 1

    Rebuilding the basics

Whatever your athletic background, the first week is stance, guard and how to move. Expect to be more tired than you predicted.

  2. Week 2

    Conditioning bites

Flexibility and the muscles you have not used lately catch up with you. This is the week people quietly decide whether they are staying.

  3. Week 3

    It starts making sense

Technique begins linking together instead of feeling like separate moves. Sparring drills start at your pace.

  4. Week 4

    A rank to chase

You know what the next belt asks for. Training turns from an activity into a project.

Common questions

I am completely out of shape. Can I still start?

Yes. Classes are scaled to the individual — individual attention is a feature of every class. You work at your level and it moves as you do.

Is there an upper age limit?

No. Adults of all ages train here.

Can I train with my child?

Yes, and many parents do. Ask about it when you come in for your trial classes.

Do I need to spar?

Sparring is part of the curriculum and is controlled and supervised. Talk to us about your comfort level — nobody is thrown in unprepared.
